Players control an avatar that spends most of its active time fighting and most of its inactive time running a shop. Character classes are chosen at level 15 and sub-classes at levels 60 and 130, referred to as the first, second, and third job changes. The job changes are obligatory—when a character reaches the requisite level, experience gain stops until the completion of one of the job quests. At level 120, the character can become a Master, returning to level 60 with enhanced powers and able to work its way back up to level 121 and become a Hero. As of version 17, Heroes may select a third job class at level 130 and level up to the current cap of 150.
- Guilds – In MMOs guilds are defined as social groups of likeminded players who strive for the same goals in their game of choice. They are gatherings of individuals from all walks of life and are a label under which players oftentimes forge powerful and profound friendships.
- Flying – FlyFF is one of the first games to introduce free roaming flight in an MMORPG. It is a fun mode of transportation that will allow you to explore Madrigal at soaring heights. Take to the skies for breathtaking views of the land, engage in aerial combat with evil monsters, or participate in the weekly Rainbow Race.
- Pets – Pick Up Pets, as their name suggests, are unique looking companions that will follow their master around and pick up their loot for them. There are dozens upon dozens of different types and designs, and there will definitely be one that appeals to each individual. Despite the enormous variety, Pick Up Pets are always loyal, and will always prove useful to the adventuring FlyFFer.
- PVP Duel – In FlyFF, dueling is when you and another player have a friendly (or not so friendly) match. It is a great way to test your mettle and to see how well you stack up against another opponent in one on one combat. In order to enter a duel, you must have completed your first job quest. For example, if you were a vagrant you couldn’t possibly fight another player. Also, you are not allowed to duel anyone who is 29 levels below or above you.
